Pipercross top the tables in BSB opener

Pipercross top the tables in BSB opener

It was a fuel packed bank holiday weekend at Brands Hatch just gone with the opening round of the BSB on the calendar, and with Pipercross featuring on more teams than ever it was going to be a good one.

Race one and it was Byrne who took the lead on his HM plant Honda although this wasn’t going to be an easy race for him. Quickly through the pack was Hill on his Swan Yamaha and pushing down on the HM plant Honda. Byrne lost the lead to Laverty but this wasn’t to be the end as Laverty had a dramatic off on the 11th lap retiring him from the race. Byrne went on to win the first race of the 2011 BSB with Tommy Hill coming in a very close second, unfortunately for another Pipercross rider Easton he was to narrowly miss out on a podium finish after running wide on the last bend giving up 3rd place to Tommy Bridewell. The end result still saw 6 Pipercross teams finish in the Top 10 a cracking result.

Race 2 and it was Byrne who got off to a flying start once more taking the lead early on but this wasn’t Byrne’s race this time. A pumped up Hill had his sights set on one thing this time, winning and that’s what he did.┬áByrne held the lead until the fourteenth lap when Hill made an impressive move at Graham Hill Bend to hit the front of the field and held on to maintain his advantage; taking the win and also the championship lead. There was disapointment for Pipercross supported Samsung Cresent racing when Kirkham was forced to retire after the warm up lap, not such a great start to the season for what will be a formidable team. Pipercross were once again lucky enough to have six of our teams finish inside the Top 10 again, a true testament to the teams hard work, the riders awesome abilities and those amazing filters we keep knocking out.

End result sees two Pipercross teams and riders in the Top 3 in the shape of Tommy Hill – Swan Yamaha and Stuart Easton – MSS Colchester Kawasaki, along with 3 other teams and riders Pipercross are quite clearly the filter of choice if your of the winning nature!!
